How do bad ideas get established, and how to get rid of them?

Beacon NY - I've been relatively unsuccessful blitzing on my book project, although I have had key ideas fall into place. And other research projects are starting up (about which more soon), so I will be falling into the crazy zone again, including travel to Asia in the summer and fall.
